Talk: Political Ecology of Knowledge Production in Alberta's Petro-Universities

 

What kinds of research are being prioritized by innovation funding to Alberta’s universities and how do these priorities relate to the urgent needs for post-carbon transition, biodiversity protection, decolonization, and global social justice? What drives these funding priorities—priorities that, in turn, direct the research and teaching carried out within universities—and what prevents universities from fulfilling their environmental citizenship and leadership roles? Adkin draws on her recent research to address these questions and generate questions and responses from seminar participants.
